About me
Shikha is the former Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank. A doyenne of the Indian banking industry, she began her career with ICICI Bank in 1980 and spent nearly three decades at the ICICI Group, across the bank’s investment banking and insurance arms.
Shikha joined Axis Bank in 2009 and focused on enhancing the bank’s strengths across a wide range of corporate and retail banking products She enlarged its investment banking and advisory capabilities and developed a comprehensive portfolio of products in the payments space.
A well-respected figure in financial services, Shikha has also served on various industry bodies She was a member of the Reserve Bank of India ( Technical Advisory Committee, part of RBI’s panel on Financial Inclusion, and the Committee on Comprehensive Financial Services for Small Businesses and Low-Income Households From 2013 to 15 she was the Co-Chairperson of the Federation of the Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Banking and Financial Institutions Committee.
She is currently a director on board of some of the leading Indian companies viz Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Piramal Finance Limited, Tata Consumer Products Limited, Tata Digital Private Limited and Tech Mahindra Limited. She is also an advisor to Piramal Finance Limited.
She has received several accolades over the years, including CNBC TV 18 ’s Asia Business Leader of the Year, Business Standard’s Banker of the Year, and the AIMA JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award In 2013 she was also featured as one of India's Most Valuable CEOs by Businessworld, and mentioned in Business Today’s listing of India's Best Women CEOs.
